A Better Life

In the course of life we build layer upon layer of experiences, lessons, observations and emotions.  Our responses to our world build a multi-layered world of good, bad and indifferent feelings which shape our personalities and define our potential for success or failure.  Just as a lasagna is covered in marinara with cheese so must our religious beliefs, philosophies and attitude cover these layers to form the cohesive whole we call life.

In the interest of making life more interesting, I find lurking in the shadows can be very useful.  No I am not condoning stalking or taking unfair advantage of the fairer gender.  Just taking a step back from a situation to get a different perspective.  When you are deep in the middle of a conversation for instance your focus is on your next response not necessarily noticing how this conversation is affecting others around you like little Johnny who you just inadvertantly taught a new word his mother would rather he not repeat, constantly.  Or that lady who was having a pretty good day but because of your use of certain racially charged words just sent her right back into the doldrums.  As I have been reminded lately words can hurt.  Now, if you took a step back from the conversation you might understand why the person you are jousting verbally is offering such a reaction to what is being said.  Sometimes it is good to go back to your corner and regroup (to use a boxing metaphor) so y

How many times a day do people ask you how are you doing?  Personally I try to use this time to uplift my fellow man by highly exaggerating the state of life at that point.  Of course they think I am being disengenuine or some such but you know no one really wants to hear problems so why not give them a tale that will let them know not everones life is as disastrous as they think they live.   One day I will tell everyone I am Fabulous and having a Fierce day.  Oh they snicker but you know seeing them smile does make for a fabulous and fierce day (watching way too much Project Runway episodes).   Another day I will say everything is bodacious.  When they ask what does bodacious mean (like anyone doesn't really know) I tell them it means beyond awesome!  So the next time someone asks how you are doing light up your face like a Christmas tree and let them know life couldn't be better.
